How this works
How listings are ranked
Search results decide who gets hired, so the ordering rules are published rather than left to guesswork. This page describes exactly how the directory sorts listings today.
Nobody can buy placement
- No business pays to be listed, to rank higher, or to appear above a competitor.
- No paid rankings, no sold leads, no commissions on work booked.
- There is no advertising on the site and no sponsored results.
The order of results
Whatever sort you pick, resident-owned businesses are grouped first. That is the directory's stated purpose, and it applies consistently on the main directory and on category pages.
- Resident-owned first — a business whose owner's verified home address is inside Skye Ranch.
- Then the sort you chose: highest rated, most contacted, newest, A–Z, or best match for your search.
- Highest rated uses the average star rating, then the number of reviews as a tiebreak, so a single five-star review does not outrank a long track record.
- Best match scores how well your words match the business name, its keywords, its categories, and its description, then applies the resident-owned grouping and rating as tiebreaks.
- Anything still tied falls back to the listing's creation date and then alphabetical order, so the result is stable rather than random.
Featured listings
The homepage shows a small Featured rail. Nobody picks it by hand and it cannot be bought. The site chooses it automatically from signals it already records: how much interest a listing has had in the last 30 days, whether it has been reviewed recently, its rating weighted by how many reviews back it up, whether it was added recently, and how complete the listing is.
Resident-owned listings are grouped first there as they are everywhere else, two slots are reserved for listings that have had little exposure so quiet ones still surface, and the selection reshuffles through the day. Featured placement is labeled where it appears and does not change the order of search or category results.
What the badges mean
- Resident-owned means the owner's home address matched the Skye Ranch street roster. It certifies the address only — not quality, licensing, or insurance.
- Licensing and insurance details are self-reported by the business and are shown as self-reported. Verify them yourself before hiring.
- Ratings and reviews come from signed-in residents and publish immediately after automatic spam and duplicate checks. They are moderated after publication, not pre-screened.
If you think the ordering is wrong
Email jesse@skyeranchprofessionals.com. The site is run by one Skye Ranch resident, and this page is updated whenever the ranking rules change.
Community details such as HOA and CDD assessments, home pricing, and amenity availability change over time. Confirm current figures with the Skye Ranch Master Association or your builder before making decisions.
