Skye Ranch Schools: The K-8 Campus and High School Zoning
Published October 12, 2026 · 4 min read
Skye Ranch is one of the few Sarasota communities with a public school inside the neighborhood. Here is what is open, what is still phasing in, and what families should verify before they buy.
The school inside the community
Skye Ranch K-8 School opened in August 2025 on a dedicated campus inside the community. It is a Sarasota County public school with a STEAM and robotics focus.
What "phased" means
- The school is expanding through the full K-8 range in phases rather than opening every grade on day one.
- Which grades are offered in a given year can change as the expansion continues — check with Sarasota County Schools for the current year.
- Older students are zoned into the Sarasota County high school system.
What it changes day to day
Having the campus inside the neighborhood means many kids walk or bike to school on the community trail network instead of riding a bus down Clark Road. It also shapes traffic: school drop-off and pickup windows are the busiest moments on interior roads, more than anything else in the community.
What families should verify
- Current school zoning for the specific address, directly with Sarasota County Schools — zoning lines can move as new schools open.
- Which grades the K-8 campus is serving in the year your child enrolls.
- High school assignment, which is set by the district and not by the community.
